Finestra Virtual Desktops is an elegant solution to managing many windows or tasks on Windows. It allows you to divide your workspace up into multiple "virtual" desktops, each of which is easily accessible on the fly. For example, you can keep all of your internet applications open on one desktop, work on another desktop, and games on a third.

Finestra virtual desktops is also well known for taking advantage of Windows' live window thumbnails to show you live previews of your windows when viewed from the fullscreen "switcher" view. If you have Windows 7, Finestra also utilizes the new taskbar features to make the experience even more natural and enjoyable.

But wait! What if you still are using XP? Don't worry, Finestra Virtual Desktops provides support for XP as well, although window previews are not "live" since XP doesn't have DWM.

Finestra Virtual Desktops is developed and managed by Z-Systems, which also produces a few other fine commercial and open-source projects.

The ninth release, 0.9.1, is fully functioning version. Most likely the next release will be 1.0, a big milestone for this project. If you notice any bugs, please post them on the issue tracker section of this site. Any feature requests can be posted either in the issue tracker or in the discussion forum.

Not necessarily. Desktops is a fairly simple app, which from what I understand does what it does well, but it lacks a few things like being able to move apps from one desktop to the other and having Aero in all desktops. It runs the desktops as separate process containers which is nice for sandboxing potentially unstable apps, but I'd like the flexibility to move between desktops. I'll give this one a whirl, but my concern is finding a decent solution for a Win 7 64 bit install.

Just one request, well it might become a few ;) - A fully customizable option: As you know, besides utility, this soft come to OS X Emulation treat, so it will be great an option to customize it all! what i mean with this? Well changing ALL the apperance, not just th background color on main preview, instead of that, an option to select an image for each window, also make possible to change the indicator when switching tru windows, so we make it our own style. hope u know what I mean with all this....
