Terminates abruptly (crashes) spontaneously under Windows Vista

description

I am running Windows Vista SP2 on a 32 bit Pentium Dual 1.6GHz system with 4GB or RAM. The Vista/XP Virtual Desktop Manager has crashed three times in the last hour, leaving all of the windows on my 3 inactive desktops hidden. I have to restart the program and use the "Recover Windows" feature to regain access to these windows. Unfortunately, I have practically no details as to any environmental factors that may have contributed. I was running SQL Server Management Studio, an MS Virtual PC, UltraEdit, Snaggit, several instances of IE, MS Outlook, MS Excel, Window Messenger, an RDP session and a couple of instances of Notepad.

Forgot to mention that I was running the Dameware service at the time. I just discovered that I can't start the Dameware service if Vista/XP VDM is already running. Is Dameware possibly related to the instability?

I've had this happen, too. I was running MSword on 3 virtual desktops, and I was looking at my email when I got the "Program has stopped running" popup. This has happened 3 times in the last 5 hours. Is there some log or event file I could look at to get more details?.
