Switching desktops does not remember application order

I have the same application running multiple times in one desktop in a sequence (for charts) with the smallest first, secondly medium and then long timeframe. The problem is if I switch to another desktop and then back it randomly re-adjusts the order of the applications. I need to make sure that the order of the applications is the order when they are opened when switching back. Unfortunately this problem causes productivity to be substantially reduced.
This issue is also raised here:
Many thanks,

This is really an anoying problem. I expect my taskbar sequence to remain the same when switching windows. I usually load my applications so email is first, but this order changes randomly when I switch to another virtual desktop and back.

I'm working on a possible fix for this issue. Right now, I should note that I /do/ keep the z-order of windows intact, but unfortunately the taskbar isn't quite as easy. I'll post the results of my research when I find out more.

The z-order does not seem to be preserved on desktop switching. In fact, if I cycle through the desktops, each time I go to a desktop the application z-index stack seems to be rotated (i.e. a new application window in focus each time).
