RC 0.9 Per-Desktop BG Issue

Topics: Problems
May 13, 2008 at 2:51 PM
I upgraded to the .9 RC this morning and I cannot set each desktop with a different background anymore - it was fine with the previous release. They all stay the same. I have checked and unchecked the box for the per-desktop setting, I even uninstalled and reinstalled vdm. Running XP Pro with SP2. Any ideas on how to fix this?
Everything else is great, love this app, love the new features, if only I could have different backgrounds.

Same here, did this a number of times, it's not a priority

Same thing happens on Vista SP1.  I reverted to 0.8 because of it.

Yeah - I confirm that too (using Vista SP1 x86)

Sure they'll fix it soon - so we can relax...

Another one not working - Vista SP1.

I'm off to get .8 re-downloaded.

This should be fixed for the next version. To answer dbv, you should just be able to use the built-in Vista control panel once I get this fixed.

I've fixed this in 0.9.1.

I just downloaded version 0.9.1 onto Vista Ultimate SP1 (64-bit), and
setting a per-desktiop background (solid-color) using the Vista "Personalize" method
definately does not work (unless I'm missing something).  The "use per-desktop backgrounds" option
is definately set, but as others have reported, when I set a solid color for one desktop, that color
propagates to all other virtual deskops.

Jayeman:

I think the desktops that have not yet been assigned a background will inherit the last one that was set.  If you set all your desktop backgrounds, I found they will remember them.

It currently does not remember colors, only images. I'll make this into a feature request.

OK, that certainly clarifies things.  Solid-color bmp's are not a problem.  Thank you zhuman.
